Join Valley Grassroots for a screening of Milk, followed by a candlelight vigil this Saturday, December 20. The screening will take place at the Arclight at the Sherman Oaks Galleria at 2:25 p.m. Please note new time! This will not be an exclusive event, we are just a group of people buying tickets to see a regular showing of the movie, nor is it a fundraiser. After the movie we'll head over to the corner of Laurel Canyon and Ventura for a"Light Up the Night" candlelight vigil. Vigils are taking place across America to draw attention to the 18,000 same-sex couples who were married in California before Prop 8 passed. The vigil starts at 5:00 p.m. These events are part of the MILK + LOVE events sponsored by the Courage Campaign and Join The Impact. You can purchase tickets at this link or at the box office. California Democrats who were involved in the 2008 campaign are invited to help select delegates for the California Democratic Party’s Convention, which will be held April 24-26, 2009 in Sacramento. The California Democratic Party is convening delegate election meetings in each of the state’s 80 Assembly Districts on January 10 or 11, 2009. These 12 people will represent their Assembly District for both the 2009 and 2010 State Conventions. They will elect one person to represent the AD on the State Party’s Executive Board. (The deadline to file to become a delegate has already passed.) Below are dates and locations for the Valley Assembly Districts. Please note that some districts overlap into the San Fernando Valley and their meetings are not in the Valley.
